Field & Garden: Winter

  • Keep the woodbox full and the ash pail outside.
  • Feed the birds once begun, and keep the feeder filled.
  • Check the roof after a heavy snow, and clear the vents.
  • Order seed early; the catalogs are at Hardware & Feed.
  • Tap maples when the days thaw and the nights still freeze.

When the days begin to lengthen, the cold begins to strengthen.
